Lunch Hour
Since it’s lunch hour, everyone’s stepped out of the office, and I just received a horoscope e-mail from a colleague, I thought I’d have a read through it and see just how flaky (or perhaps factual) these things can get. Don’t get me wrong, though. This is the serious, reflective kind and not the ridiculous ones found in Libre, a small newspaper you can pick up for free from MRT stations. Be they serious or comical, I’m cynical about horoscopes, but I thought, “what the heck?” It just might be fun. I decided to comment on each and every paragraph. Here goes:
PISCES
OVERVIEW: Pisces is having a once in a lifetime opportunity for great changes this year. You will be having the time of your life, expressing your loving and compassion to the world and fulfilling your boldest dreams. There won't be a dull moment and you will intuitively know exactly what path to follow and what feels right in your heart.
Gee… I sure do hope so. I ended the previous year with a ‘great change’ indeed when I left my comfort zone and stepped into a newer, more challenging career path. Already, I’m having the time of my life with this new schedule and the feeling of independence this new job is giving me. But since this new lifestyle makes it possible for me to have more alone time, I do get dull moments. Fortunately, it’s during those seemingly dull, hum-drum moments that I get to reflect on what I really want to do with my life. Yeah yeah… I’m turning into the sentimental sap I adamantly denied being!!!
You will feel compelled to grasp new opportunities that manifest self-transformation in your career. You're stepping into your power easily, especially around April when you are urged to express your visionary mentality. You might rediscover your musical abilities and express yourself in creative ways. You have the power and inspiration to bring mystical sensitivity to what's around you. Think BUTTERFLY STEPPING OUT OF HER COCOON. The ‘mystical’ crap threw me off. I’m not analyzing this paragraph.

Working in a higher educational field -- perhaps teaching philosophy or metaphysics -- would be very good for you. Funny. I did want to teach at some point in my life. But now that I work in the field of Human Resources, I feel like that need within me to deal with, interact, and influence people is being met. At least I’d like to think I do have a positive impact on people even in the smallest of ways.

Did you say ‘travel’??? The rest of the paragraph’s a blur… All I took notice of was the travel part. I wanna explore the world!!!

Reaheaheaheally now? The opposite sex appreciates THAT about me? I think it’s a double-edged sword actually. My experiences from the previous year have led me to believe that my tendency to be a teeny bit too compassionate and loving misleads many of the guys I’ve come across these past few years. Sure, it's fine on the onset but as things progress, I don’t think they appreciate it about me at all.
You are idealistic and self-sacrificing. People adore you and can't get enough of your good nature, especially since you are a reliable friend and companion. Cuddling up next to a fireplace and having popcorn while watching a romantic movie or reading a book ignites the fantasy of having an intimate relationship. Gross… the fireplace-popcorn-romantic movie cuddle up suggestion threw me off again. I’m obviously not ready to get into a relationship and all the mush that comes with it.

"Emotional risks aren’t something you want to take… " so true. And that’s why I’m not ready. Or maybe the right one just hasn’t come along.
So much for analyzing horoscope. I obviously have little or nothing better to do this lunch hour. For someone who claims to be a cynic, though, it seems I kinda spent too much time on this article. It doesn't mean I've completely bought into the whole thing, have I? Course not.
