YanYan Days Part II

I already blogged about this on YanYan Days Part I, but I thought to dedicate another post to one of my favorite childhood treats. This time around, Ellaine happily posed for the photo opt.

I have such fond memories eating this snack. My sister and I even had to share one pack, and how we divided all fifteen sticks between us both, I don't know and can't remember. It was a treat that came rarely, and call us shallow, but I guess that's what made YanYan so special.

Here's a snippet update. Some sticks I've seen before; others were new but no less amusing.

Zebra - Herbivore
Goat - You are Lucky Today
Rhinoceros - Think Big
Giraffe - Tallest Mammal
Frog - Amphibian
Cat - Say Meow
Rabbit - Eat More Carrots
Starfish - Star + Fish
Cow - Muuuuu
Mouse - Do Not Be Timid
Owl - Active at Night
Chicken - Kokekokko
Panda - Go for More
Octopus - Lucky Number 8
Chick - Lucky Color Yellow

I wonder who comes up with these things...

Early rush hour

I spent two and a half hours on the road this morning. Due to the typhoon Sepat and the delayed suspension of classes, what would normally be a free-flowing noontime ride from my home to Ortigas was hellish. It was madness how everyone seemed to be using the same route I had taken to go to the gym. Apparently, kids were on their way home from school. Also government offices and a number of other companies closed after lunchtime, so everyone was out and about. I got a taste of an early rush hour.

By the time I arrived at the gym, my butt was sore, left leg numb from stepping on the clutch and head steaming in utter disgust at Philippine driving etiquette (if there is such a thing). I had just about enough time to break a little sweat before rushing to prepare for work.

Thank goodness this was just a freak occassion and that normally, being in the midshift allows me to avoid rush hour traffic.

Got Milk?

Since it was cloudy, wet and gloomy outside, my sister and I had a hot chocolate craving we just had to satisfy today. Right after my dance class at the gym, we headed straight for the Coffee Bean, which arguably offers the best hot chocolate in town. She had hers with additional whipped cream, making the drink even more delectable than it already was.

We obviously had a lot of time in our hands, so we fooled around with the whipped cream. Though we didn't look half as convincing as the celebs' ad campaign, it sure as hell beat the boredom!

Dessert!

I was aimlessly wandering around in the humble cafeteria on the ground floor of my office building when I stumbled upon a Fiorgelato stall. It would have been just like any other ice cream stand; I'd look at their flavor selection, take a deep sigh and move on to the next stall, but much to my delight, I found that they actually offered SUGAR FREE ice cream.

Two thumbs up for them! Now, people who avoid sugar (whether for general health or simply weightloss purposes) have more options to satisfy their sweet tooth.

In the meantime, since it's my boss' birthday, let me enjoy my sugarFILLED slice of cake. Yum!!! No guilt whatsoever.
