Hpmh

Trying to play and improve my game on wet, slippery tennis courts is extremely frustrating I can't even put it into words. Sorry, Ate, I won't be such a brat next time. Peace!

Break the fast

Since the Christmas shopping rush faded with the start of this new year, I'd quite successfully managed to keep my expenses in check. After having spent sinful amounts of moolah on gifts for both others and myself (couldn't help it!) throughout the whole of the holiday season, I decided that I had just about enough of the material excesses I'd grown accustomed to splurging on ever since I got my own source of income. Successful, yes, I've been until now; yesterday, to be more precise.

My supervisor, Miss Jinky, showed me the first of three volumes of the Griffin and Sabine series by Nick Bantock. I absolutely fell in love with it. It was the whole package in which the intriguing storyline was presented that appealed to me most. Each page was filled with colorful, thought-provoking images made by the author himself, backed up by a story told in the form of a mysterious correspondence between the two main characters, Griffin and Sabine.

I apparently HAVE to break this so-called "shopping fast" while Powerbooks is selling most, if not all, of its books with a 20% mark down. Nick Bantock just HAS to be a part of our book collection, alongside the likes of C.S. Lewis, Jostein Gaarder, Agatha Christie, among other authors.

Don't mean to bash but...

I came accross a resume with a very odd introductory paragraph just a few minutes ago. Much as I wouldn't want to make fun of anyone, I just have to post this. Forgive me for being such a mean girl. Hehehehe... It goes like this:

I am a computer literate also (thanks partly to my natural knack on technology I assembled myself a working computer out of some surplus). I clocked at 25 wpm. I stand on my socks at 5 feet and 6 inches, and 170 lbs. on the scale; light brown skin.

Errors in sentence construction, transliterations, word misuse, lack of punctuation marks, among other things!!! I got a headache just reading it. What on earth is "clocked" supposed to mean anyway? "Inorasan" in Tagalog? Even then, it doesn't make much sense. "I stand on my socks"!?! For crying out loud, what does that have to do with his application to the company? As if that wasn't enough, he just had to clinch it with "light brown skin".

I come accross people who not just write, but speak, this way every day. Yes, it may be good for a laugh from time to time, but too much exposure to it and you start getting paranoid the errors will rub off on you eventually. I pitty these people, too, because most of the time, they're absolutely convinced that they meet the qualification of having "excellent communication skills". It's like they don't know any better.

Post-Christmas Present

Last January 8, 2006, an adorable, 4-month-old black labrador pup came into our lives. Meet Ashton, the new apple of our eyes.

Kodak (or digicam) Moments

The holiday season this year was a tad more sedate and quiet than what I'm used to. It's probably because nearly half of our clan moved away. It may also be due to the fact that we're all getting older. Eww, it almost pains me to say that. Hehehe... Nonetheless, I had an absolute blast. I wouldn't even dare describe it in words. These photos should suffice.

Nothing beats having a quiet dinner with the company of great friends in one's own humble abode. Though my spaghetti with meatballs (with yucky sweet sauce) didn't turn out so scrumptous, I was glad to entertain these college friends. I can say almost without flinching that I couldn't have met funnier, more genuine and intelligent people than this bunch.

Performing at gunpoint, we HR girls tried to sing in our office Christmas bash, "tried" being the operative term. Oh well... we couldn't say no to our boss now could we?

Let's volt in! Thanks a bunch to Lara for making these lovely bracelets for the HR gals.

My new cuddle buddy, Peppermint, from my parents. They think I'm still their baby. I guess I still am!

See? Both my sister and I just love cuddly stuff.

I ain't done yet. There are more. But I'll post them when I'm not so hung over by that long holiday break I just had. Tomorrow, it's back to reality for us all. Happy 2006 everyone!
