Physically Back on Track

Over the past several months since my OB gave me the go signal to work out, I've been trying really hard to get back into shape.  By "shape", I don't mean simply shedding the excess baby weight.  I'm referring to overall physical wellness.  If my hubby Michael and I are planning to have another baby by next year, we have to make sure I'll be physically ready.

Slowly but surely, I started running again.  After almost a year of NO EXERCISE whatsoever, I found this to be pretty challenging.  The farthest distance I can go now is a walk run combination of 3 kilometers, but my target is to be able to run 10 kilometers again without feeling like dying at the finish line.  As advised by my personal coach and sister Noelle, I also have to strengthen my core.  A small gal like me needs all the core strength she can get when she carries baby number two!  So, I attempt (emphasis on that word) to do at least 100 crunches and 100 lower back exercises a week, and steadily increase that number as I get stronger.

My numbers are not at all impressive, I know, but with my game face on and with the perseverance to train regularly, I'm sure I can be more fit than ever.  Hopefully, sooner than later...

Of course, it's not all about output; it's also about input.  I've been conscious about what I put in my body as well.  I try to eat in moderation of everything, making sure that I get enough iron, folic acid, protein, carbs, etc..  I DO have to steer clear of fastfoods and processed meat.  I can't seem to give up bacon, hotdogs, tocino, and canned goods.  Nonetheless, I pride myself in the fact that I've been able to give up softdrinks and coffee 100%!

The quest to physical wellness can be fun and energizing.  And I have God to thank for my health and the capacity to invest in improving it even more.

Badminton

My friends have been inviting me to join their weekly badminton games, but I had been too busy to join them. But last week, I decided to stop making excuses and just go for it, so after three years, I pulled my badminton rackets out of the stockroom, cleaned them and played a little with the shuttle cocks just to see if I still had the eye-hand coordination.

I'm probably a bit rusty, but it should be fun to get back into the sport. Besides, I'd like to believe ANYONE can play it if not for competition, then plainly and simply for fun.

Bikram Yoga

I've recently been attending Bikram Yoga classes. I friend of mine owns a studio along Connecticut Avenue in Greenhills, so I've been availing of unlimited visits with my 1 week pass. I think I'll carry on attending classes even after this week ends. For one thing, it's really helped relieve my recently-acquired work stress and my recurring childhood asthma.

Aside from it's benefits, I'm every bit challenged to improve. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that pose just like my sister.

Check them out on: Sundar Bikram Yoga

Body Jam Release 42

I felt so bad about staying up late last night; so late, in fact, that I wasn't able to get up early for my usual 6:30 AM Hip Hop class by one of my favorite dance instructors.

I then decided to attend the noontime dance class before going to work and much to my delight, the class was a soft launch for the latest release of Body Jam.

This actually meant that I was able to experience the new choreography before most people. I can say almost without batting an eyelash that this release (Release 42) was the most fun thus far. It's not just the tracks that they used; it's also the combination of new moves and challenging steps that I personally enjoyed the most out of all the previous releases.

.HOLLER!.

.For the HECK of it.

Tests I took just to kill time

Venus/Aphrodite
You are the Greek goddess Aphrodite, also known as Venus to the Romans. You are the goddess of love, lust, desire and fertility. You have been called the most beautiful of goddesses and undoubtedly the most desirable. But you are also known for your hot temper, and the ease with which you grow jealous of women that profess to be more beautiful than you. You also own a special girdle which has the power to drive men insane with desire. Since you were born of the sea, from which you came to land riding on a scallop shell, sea food has been known as an aphrodisiac.
